Charlotte Traffic Survey

Charlotte voters see transportation as a top priority, with most supporting the immediate expansion of I-77 South. The survey also shows that while voters want transportation infrastructure improvements, they strongly oppose broad-based tax increases. Instead, they overwhelmingly prefer a user-pay approach, with tolls on the new lanes.

The Charlotte Traffic Survey was conducted July 15-18, 2026, among 370 registered Charlotte voters screened for voting intent. Results were weighted to reflect Charlotte municipal voter turnout. The effective sample size is 258 respondents, with an effective margin of error of +/-6.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
